Evangelist Dea Warford from Santa Fe Springs, CA has trained church groups in personal evangelism methods, served as guest Bible College lecturer, trained pastors, and has held divine healing crusades, revival services and prayer conferences. Here is a schedule of what we, Vinton Lutheran Home, have going on this week and the times for National Nursing Home for the Aging Week.  The theme of nursing home week is “Bring On the Fiesta” Mexico Monday: Burrito Bar     staff dress in LH shirts and Mexican accessories     2:30 Activity: Arm chair travel to Mexico Tropical Tuesday: Puerto Rican Cuisine     staff is invited to dress in beach gear    2:30 Activity: Beach Party Wacky Wednesday: Taco Bar     staff is invited to dress up wacky/crazy attire     2:30 Activity: Pin the tail on the donkey and Piñata Breaking Talent Show Thursday: Paella, Churros & Hot Cocoa with Cinnamon     staff is invited to dress up in their “dream job” attire     2:30 Activity: staff and residents will have a talent show Fiesta Friday: Cuban Cuisine     staff is invited to dress in Sombreros/Mexican Hats     2:30 Activity: Fiesta with Barb & Larry (music)   The dining area of our home is decorated and will be decorated all week for the occasion, plus other areas.

The annual Shellsburg Firemen’s Auxiliary Backdraft 5K Run/Walkwill take place a 8 a.m. On Saturday, July 18. Click HERE for a registration form and more information.

The 2015 Vinton Community Job Fair will take place from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, May 9, at the Vinton Skate Center.  Admission is free for this event, which is sponsored by Vinton Unlimited. More than a dozen area businesses have agreed to participate; information about resumes and other job-seeking skills will be available.

As the school year comes to a close, the High School would like to invite you to our Fine Arts Night, on Tuesday, May 12 at 7:00pm in the high school auditorium, featuring art, music and drama students. Doors to the Commons to view the Art Show will be open at 6:00pm, seating for the Band and Choir Concert will start at 6:30pm.  Come and enjoy a night of visual and performing arts and support our fine students as they receive awards and recognition and say farewell to the seniors.

The Vinton Garden Club annual plant sale is scheduled for Friday, May 8th, at the Benton County Fairgrounds in the open class building. The doors will open at 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The members are busy potting up perennial plants for the public to purchase. Club President Fran Stueck said, “I would buy plants from someone locally that has been growing them in their garden, because you know they are hardy in this area.

Monday, May 11th at 6:30 p.m. at the Vinton Public Library. You have read his magazine, you have seen him on tv, now you can meet him in person when he presents the program - Hidden Treasures of Iowa. Dan Kaercher is the retired founding editor-in-chief of Midwest Living Magazine and host of "Iowa's Simple Pleasures" and other travel-related programs aired on Iowa Public Television and other public television stations nationally.

PEO Chapter HG will meet Monday, May 11, at 7:30pm, at the home of Jean Herger assisted by Cathie Beatty

One day only sale is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 30, in the Library basement at 720 Main Street. Because of construction, please use the Library’s main entrance. Hard cover books 50 cents, paperbacks a quarter, magazines a dime, DVDs 50 cents and VHS tapes a dime. Friends uses proceeds for Library programming, supplies and equipment.

PEO Chapter MZ will meet Monday, May 11, at 1:30, at the home of Jackie Schoettmer assisted by Brenda Hackbarth.
